We collect only what you give us — your name, work email, role, company, and anything you write to us — plus basic technical data when you browse. We use it to run the publication, send the newsletter if you asked for it, and respond to you.
Look At Business is an ad-supported B2B publication. Some content — research reports, guides, webinars — is sponsored. When you download a sponsored resource or register for a sponsored event, the details you submit are shared with that resource's named sponsor so they can follow up. We tell you who the sponsor is, on the form, before you submit. Your newsletter subscription and general contact messages are never shared with sponsors and are never sold. What we collect
You give us: name; work email; role, company and country where asked; phone only where a resource form asks; and your message.
Collected automatically: IP address (geo-routing, abuse mitigation), browser user-agent, referring page, anonymised page views.
Cookies / local storage: theme preference; recent searches (stored locally, never sent to us); an auth cookie for editor/admin accounts. We also use Google Analytics cookies to measure how the site is used — but only if you accept analytics in the cookie banner. Decline and no analytics cookies are set.
How we use your information
- To respond to your contact, partnership or resource form.
- To deliver the newsletter, if you subscribed.
- To fulfil sponsored content:when you download a sponsored resource or register for a sponsored event, we share what you submit with that resource's named sponsor, who may contact you about related products. The sponsor is named on the form, and submitting is your consent.
- To improve editorial, prevent abuse, and meet legal obligations.
We do not share your newsletter signup or general contact messages with sponsors, and we do not sell your data for purposes unrelated to a resource you requested.

Your California privacy rights (CCPA / CPRA)
Sharing your information with a sponsor for their marketing may count as a “sale” or “sharing” under the CCPA. California residents may opt out of the sale or sharing of their personal information, and have rights to know, delete, correct, and non-discrimination. To opt out, use the “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link in the footer, or email info@lookatbusiness.com.
How long we keep your data
Newsletter — until you unsubscribe. Contact/partnership — up to 24 months after last interaction. Resource downloads — up to 24 months. Staff accounts — life of account, deleted within 30 days of closure. Server logs — ~30 days. Request earlier deletion anytime.
Your rights
Ask what we hold, correct it, delete it, stop communications, export it, object to uses, withdraw consent. Email info@lookatbusiness.com; we reply within 30 days. UK/EU readers may also complain to a supervisory authority.
Security
Encrypted infrastructure, HTTPS, hashed passwords, least-privilege access. If an incident affects your data, we notify you within 72 hours of becoming aware.
International transfers
Providers may process data in the EU, UK or US under Standard Contractual Clauses, the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, or equivalent. Sponsors handle their own transfers.
Children
Not for under-16s; we don't knowingly collect their data. Contact us to delete any.
